This is a home for diminutives with a taste for the finer things...from the thrift store and other modestly-priced shops. The curveless and curvaceous live here in perfect harmony.

Spring Cleaning
It is supposed to be Spring time in Chicagoland, which of course means we are expecting 7 inches of snow tomorrow. In order to attempt to trick myself into a Spring mindset, I have begun slowly going through my entire wardrobe in the hopes that by the time I'm done, it might be over 50 degrees around here.
This dress was bought about 3 years ago from Maurices and worn for my undergrad graduation. It's a bit heavy but heavenly to wear. There is tulle under the skirt to give a bit of volume, and excellent deep, hidden pockets, perfect to wear to work. Love that I've found this again.

91st Day of Winter
According to the powers that be, today is supposed to be the first day of spring. However, this is Chicago, and Chicago don't listen to none of that. Today is nothing special--it's merely the 91st day of winter.
Hold on. Did I really say it wasn't special?
Today is the day I got home to this lovely number. Despite about a decade of yearning for a real vintage dress with a dainty circle skirt, I've never had much luck finding one. Last week, I made the discovery of Nifty Thrifty, which is an online thrift shop with all kinds of sales going on. I literally canceled plans just so I could spend more time shopping on there.
Eventually, it came down to this and another adorable day dress--that one was a gray, checked dress with a poodle on the chest. Poodles are an especially enticing emblem for me, since my brother's dog is a hugely fluffy Labradoodle.
The tipping point came when I realized that this is, in fact, a shirt and dress combo. Three ways to wear it in one? I'll take it on the next train.
Putting it on was like a dream. Apparently, the only clothes that fit me well were made about 60 years ago, because nothing else I have looks as good. Of course, I'm wearing a petticoat to enhance the full skirt effect. I'm debating whether I'm going to work this at the office...but I'm definitely leaning toward yes.
Not to mention the colors are so vibrant! And have a look at the print:

Terrifically Restless Day
Too bad I've got nowhere to go. It's a dreadful, dull day, and my only respite has been dreaming up care packages for friends and picking up a skirt from the tailor shop.
The sweater comes from the thrift store, while the skirt is a gem I saw on someone else on LookBook, so I had to have it. Unfortunately, you can't see just how sparkly the tights are, but I think the pearls and studs in the skirt make up for it. I find that adding thigh-high socks is a very sexy maneuver (but really, I just do it to stay warm!).

The Concise Story of Two Concisely-Sized Bloggers
After months of complimenting each other's outfits, it finally dawned on us to start a blog to show the rest of the world what only friends and bookstore patrons have witnessed: complete and unabridged short-girl style.
We are Honey Badger & Shark. Courtney represents the former and is the most fearless person I know. Much like the honey badger, she is a complete badass. As a non-curvy individual, I (Devinne) spend lots of time rolling my eyes at people who nasally comment that "Real women have curves." It's possible that I'm a shark. See?
