91st Day of Winter

According to the powers that be, today is supposed to be the first day of spring.  However, this is Chicago, and Chicago don't listen to none of that.  Today is nothing special--it's merely the 91st day of winter.

Hold on.  Did I really say it wasn't special?

Today is the day I got home to this lovely number.  Despite about a decade of yearning for a real vintage dress with a dainty circle skirt, I've never had much luck finding one.  Last week, I made the discovery of Nifty Thrifty, which is an online thrift shop with all kinds of sales going on.  I literally canceled plans just so I could spend more time shopping on there.

Eventually, it came down to this and another adorable day dress--that one was a gray, checked dress with a poodle on the chest.  Poodles are an especially enticing emblem for me, since my brother's dog is a hugely fluffy Labradoodle.

The tipping point came when I realized that this is, in fact, a shirt and dress combo.  Three ways to wear it in one?  I'll take it on the next train.

Putting it on was like a dream.  Apparently, the only clothes that fit me well were made about 60 years ago, because nothing else I have looks as good.  Of course, I'm wearing a petticoat to enhance the full skirt effect.  I'm debating whether I'm going to work this at the office...but I'm definitely leaning toward yes.

Not to mention the colors are so vibrant! And have a look at the print:

Don't mind me.  I'll just be off twirling down the street.
